| Drunk Driver Crashes - Injures Pregnant Teen and Passenger |
| Posted By Kellie Healey |
 |
On Monday, March 23, 2009, not too far from Fresno, California, a man with multiple DUI charges was running from the police in a high speed car chase, ran a red light, and crashed into another automobile. The negligent, drunk driver was Otis Lee Taylor Jr. and he attempted to flee the scene after the car accident happened. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that Taylor crashed into a car with two passengers who were young women; one pregnant 17- year old, and the other a 21 year old. The CHP chased and arrested Taylor as he tried to leave the scene of the accident.
Both victims of the car accident suffered injuries. The pregnant woman had moderate injuries and the 21-year old woman had serious injuries and was probably rushed to a local hospital where she may have been treated for deep cuts and bruises, or lacerations caused by the seat belt. She may have also suffered critical brain injuries or brain trauma and been in danger of losing her ability to walk or properly function.
The DUI offender, who was driving reckless and caused the car accident, is now awaiting trial where he is being charged with several felony accounts. He will face felony D.U.I., a felony hit and run, and finally a charge for driving with a suspended license. This negligent driver could have killed both of the passengers in the other car, not to mention an unborn child. Thankfully, he did not kill anyone, but he seriously injured them. Someone needs to prevent him from ever having the chance to do something like this again.

| A 16 year-old arrested after causing a car accident with a police car in Central Fresno, California |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
On January 19, 2009, a sixteen year old driver was heading north on Palm Avenue in Central Fresno, California. The teenage driver then made an illegal turn causing the police car to strike the teenage driver's car which created a car accident.
The teenage driver's car was struck with such force by the Fresno Police car that he ended up on a nearby homeowner's lawn. The Fresno police car similarly left Palm Avenue in Fresno, California and came to rest after striking the fence surrounding the Fresno High School.
Neither the teenage driver nor the Fresno police officer suffered serious injuries as a result of the car accident. However, the suspect left his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot as he didn't have a driver's license. The teenager was caught shortly thereafter and arrested for hit and run. He may also be charged with damaging state property as well as driving without a license.
Although neither the driver nor the police officer was seriously injured, if you were involved in a similar car accident, you should still retain a knowledgable and experienced Fresno personal injury attorney to make sure you have proper representation.

| Fatal SUV Rollover on I-5 in California |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Lawyer |
 |
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported on Monday, April 13, 2009 that one person was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Interstate 5 not to far from Fresno, California the accident involved a SUV that rolled over causing the death of the automobile driver. The victim of this auto accident was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. There are no reports concerning the cause of the SUV accident, but it was reported that there were animals being transported in the sports-utility vehicle and Animal control responded to the scene of the accident according to a CHP officer.
Roll-overs are a risk for anyone who operates a sports-utility vehicle (SUV) in Fresno, California. In research done concerning the degree of the risk of rollovers for SUVs a study found that motor vehicle safety is being sacrificed for the appeal of the eye. Those who are manufacturing sports-utility vehicles are putting every person at risk that drives off of the dealership lot when the company fails to follow proper protocol in manufacturing a safe automobile for both a driver and their passenger; even if those passengers are animals.
If the SUV is found to have had faulty mechanics then the family of the victim has the legal right to file a wrongful death suit against the manufacturing company of that particular vehicle. It is a very sad thing when someone dies in an accident that may have been prevented had there not been negligence by an automobile manufacturing company. Serious injuries are caused by rollovers if it is not a fatal auto accident. The California SUV driver in this story may have suffered blunt force trauma causing serious head injuries which resulted in their death, or the driver may have suffered internal organ damage causing a heart attack, or other fatal injuries.
If you or your loved one has been involved in an SUV rollover accident on a freeway near Fresno, California caused by the negligence of a sports-utility vehicle manufacturing company you are the victim of a personal injury and may have grounds to file a California personal injury lawsuit. | Deputy Killed in Motorcycle Accident |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Lawyer |
 |
On Thursday April 2, 2009 it was reported that a California correctional deputy from Porterville has died in a motorcycle accident on a local freeway last night on his way to meet his family for dinner not to far from Fresno. His motorcycle was hit by a car and he was air lifted to the Fresno hospital where he later died. There are no details concerning the other driver, and it is assumed that they were not injured. The accident is still being investigated but it appears that the car who struck the deputy is at fault. More details will be revealed as the pending investigation finds more information concerning the cause of the accident.
It is probable that the deputy was thrown from his motorcycle and onto the road or into traffic. He may have suffered critical injuries such as severe burns and scraps as the result of hitting and rolling across the pavement. The intensity of a fall such as this would have caused serious damage to his internal organs, caused broken bones, or even severe brain damage. If this would not have been a fatal motorcycle accident it is most likely that the victim would have suffered for years to come with the injuries he suffered in the motorcycle crash.
Motorcycle accidents may be the result of a reckless motorcycle operator, or a negligent automobile driver. In this case it appears as though a man suffered a wrongful death because of the reckless driviing of another car driver. If you or your loved one has ever been involved in am motorcycle accident in or around Fresno, California which was caused by negligence of automobile driver or your loved one has been killed in a motorcycle accident caused by being hit by another car you should contact one of our Fresno Motorcycle Accident Attorneys today for a free consultation. |

| Fresno Medical Burn Center Treats Explosion Victims |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Lawyer |
 |
Two California men were hospitalized on Tuesday after a gas explosion severely injuree them on the job. They were attempting to loosen a bolt on a tank full of combustible fluids when the explosion happened. Each man suffered serious burns, and it was reported that both men suffered third-degree burns one 30% of his body burned and the other 50 %. Both men are considered to be in critical condition and were rushed to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California for treatment at the burn center there.
All of the details of the workplace accident have not been determined, but the Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) are investigating the facts of the case. In total close to 18 firefighter responded to the emergency call and none were reported to have experienced any injuries. According to a worker at the plant it is not clear as to why the men were using fire torch on a fuel tank, because it is not a normal procedure or practice of the plant to do so.
This may very well be a case of workers negligence to properly operate machinery on the job, but it also may be a manufacturing malfunction on the fuel tank. Maybe this could have been prevented by the company not making a blow torch so easily accessible to works as an option of loosen bolts. Either way, two families are emotionally suffereing as the result of a workplace accident which had put their loved ones in the hospital for the Easter Holiday and longer.
It is hoped that these men recover from their serious injuries and burns caused by the explosion, but there have been incidents where workers have not recovered from injuries caused on the job, and some have even died a wrongful death at work. If your loved one has been killed on the job, or suffered critical injuries as the result of a workplace accident in or around Fresno which was clearly related to negligence on the company's part to maintain machines and give proper warnings for use of certain equipment than you should seek legal advice about the constitutional rights.

| Truck Driving Company Pays $2 Million for Wrongful Death |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
Wisconsin truck company forced to pay $2,000,000.00 for the wrongful death of Cathie Dolter which occured at a Pontoon Beach, Illinois truck stop.
A Wisconsin trucking company recently settled a wrongful death lawsuit for the death of Cathie Dolter, 61, who on January 21, 2008 was driver over by an eighteen wheeler. Despite her suffering severe injuries for more than two hours, she eventually died at St. Louis University Hospital in Illinois.
Following the truck accident, it was discovered that the truck driver's windows were caked with dirt and debris. The Pontoon Beach police department also failed to identify or report prescription medications which were located on the floor of the cab or truck.
Forensic evidence presented that the truck driving company may have destroyed key evidence by replacing one or more of the tires. Eyewitnesses to the truck driving accident were also a vital part of this case.
As only one witness was listed on the Ilinois police report, the 911 tapes were subpoened which identified two other witnesses which further identified two other witnesses which ultimately assisted in finding both the truck company and truck driver responsible for the death which occured during the semi-tractor-trailer truck accident.
In Ilinois punitive damage awards may not be awarded in wrongful death suits, so the truck company was able to limit its exposure. This is very unfortunate because if Mrs. Dolter had survived, a jury would most likely have punished the truck driving company by awarding more than the statutory limit of $2 million dollars for the truck driving accident.
The utilization of an attorney is vital to the resolution of a truck driving accident. In this particular case the medical bills totaled $30,000.00 with lost wages calculated to be approximately $200,000.00. The truck driving company offered a low settlement of $1,000,000.00 but was ultimately required to pay $2,000,000.00 with the assistance of an attorney.
If you or a family member has been injured by a truck driver who was at fault in causing your injuries, you should contact one of our truck accident injury attorneys so you may recover any lost wages or costs associated with any medical bills that may have resulted. Additionally, please visit our website if there is a wrongful death. |

| $10.5 Million Settlement for Fresno Truck Accident |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
A grandmother suffered a terrible truck driving accident involving her car, which was broadsided by a semi tractor trailer truck. The big-rig driver was transporting supplies to be used for a charity, when he caused serious injuries to this innocent grandmother. After the accident, the truck driver had a B.A.C. of .08%, thus he was legally drunk in the State of California by satisfying the statutory limit for being legally drunk. To further exacerbate things, the truck driver arrived at work in a drunken state, thus also making his employer liable for the accident, especially since the negligent driver responsible for the trucking accident was acting within the defined limits of his truck driving job. This truck driver later pleaded guilty to driving under the influence (DUI) and was sented to serve a year jail term.
The injuries suffered by the grandmother as a result of this truck-car-accident in Fresno caused her to remain bedridden. This innocent grandmother is now intensely sensitive to noise, and when watching TV must do so without sound, because if the sound is on, she begins to suffer one of her many excruciating headaches.
Ultimately, a civil suit for the grandmother's injuries was filed in Fresno, as the accident occurred in Fresno County. After hearing the month-long-case, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the seriously injured grandmother for $10.5 Million Dollars. $6.5 Million Dollars was for the grandmother's pain and suffering, and the remaining $4 Million Dollars was to compensate her and her loving family for her present and future medical expenses and bills.
Clearly no amount of money will ever return this poor grandmother to a condition prior to the serious trucking accident, but with such a large settlement, neither she nor her family needs to worry about paying for expensive prescription drugs as well as other medical expenses, including the in-home care-giver or nursing staff.
If you or a loved one has suffered serious injuries as a result of the negligent driving of a truck, big-rig, 18-wheeler, semi-tractor-trailer truck, or semi-truck driver in Fresno, please contact one of our Fresno Trucking Accident Lawyers for a free confidential initial consultation. |
