  Multi-Motor-Vehicle Accident Requires 63 Firefighters
Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney

Multiple cars, an SUV and a sedan were involved in a car accident early on the morning of February 2, 2009.  Both cars had entrapments, and 1 person was ejected from one of the vehicles.  An investigation is still pending as to whether the ejected occupant wasn't wearing a seat belt, or whether the safety equipment in the motor-vehicle failed to function as a result of a product defect.

Both the SUV and the sedan required the extraction of one occupant due to the damage done to both of the vehicles.  Paramedic emergency response ambulances and fire companies were both called and summoned to this multi-motor-vehicle accident.  All of the car accident victims were triaged upon the arrival of the paramedics.

A total of 63 firefighters were required for this multi-vehicle accident in which there were seven (7) patients, four (4) males and three (3) females.  Of these seven patients, four (4) of them were listed in critical to very critical condition.  While there is no general indication of the injuries suffered, the critical to very critical occupants most likely suffer some form of brain trauma or brain injuries, severe bleeding, broken bones, and may or may not have lost consciousness.  The remaining occupants who were injured suffered moderal injuries and minor injuries.  The driver of the sedan, 30, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Survivors of the multi-car accident has been attributed to the use of safety equipment such as seat belts and air bag deployment.

California Man Suspected of Wrongful Death
Posted By Fresno Accident Lawyer

Physical abuse is considered a personal injury, and is in direct violation of a person's rights according to the law.  In Visalia, California, not too far from Fresno, a 3 year old little girl died a wrongful death as the result of head injuries she received from her mother's live-in boyfriend. The southern California man was arrested, and is being investigated for the murder of the young girl.

Sometime in the late afternoon, someone called 911 complaining that the toddler was having a hard time breathing. The young girl was rushed to the local hospital and pronounced dead not too long after her arrival. The autopsy reports showed that little Natalynn died from "blunt-force trauma;" to both her head and entire body.

Head Injuries, or brain trauma, caused from a blunt instrument or physical attack may include severe internal bleeding, loss of memory or motor abilities, and sometimes can even put a person into a coma. In addition to the injuries listed above, possible nerve destruction and possibly death of the individual who suffered brain damage. If the head injury does not result in death, it takes months, or even years for recovery, and much time is spent in the hospital.

It is imperative that the people who intentionally or negligently injure or kill another be held responsible for their actions.  While hiring a lawyer will not bring your loved one back, a qualified Fresno Wrongful Death Attorney could assist a family in recovering some of the expenses for that loved one's funeral, medical expenses and other associated costs.

Please contact one of our Fresno Wrongful Death Lawyers today if your loved one has been the victim or a wrongful death while in the paid care of someone else. We offer free, confidential consultations; call today 559-761-0061!

Fresno Industrial Accidents Leaves One Dead
Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney

On January 16, 2009, two men were in close proximity to an air tank which was being refilled at Conner's Manufacturing on Franklin Avenue in Central Fresno, California.  Although the facts leading up to the event are still under investigation, it is clear that the air tank exploded killing one of the two men while the other man sustained a non-life threatening injury.

The gentleman who was killed was not an employee, and therefore, most likely a customer who was having his air tank refilled.  Although his identity has not yet been released.  The other gentleman sustained injuries to his arm wihch were treated at the Community Regional Medical Center.

The events and facts leading up to the resulting explosion are still being investigated.  However, from the facts which are presently available, it is clear that either the air tank was negligently manufactuered or the employee refilling the air tank was negligent in over-pressurizing the air tank beyond specified safety maximums which resulted in the wrongful death of the customer.

Fresno Nursing Home Fined for Negligence
Posted By Fresno Accident Lawyer

In Fresno, California a popular nursing home, the Raintree Convalescent Hospital, has been fined $80,000.00 for nursing home negligence which resulted in the wrongful death of one of their patients. The Fresno man, who was reported to be a schizophrenic, choked on his food as the result of negligent supervision by the nursing home staff.  The staff was more than aware that the patient had trouble chewing his food and was at risk of choking unless his food was properly cut or chopped into small pieces. The nurses tried to perform the Heimlich maneuver but were unable to remove the food lodged in the man's throat and the paramedics attempted to remove the meatball by suction, but were unsuccessful. The man died later that night in the Fresno hospital.

The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) conducted an investigation into the hospital and found that because the home was informed of the choking hazard posed to the man if he were to eat whole portions of food, the nursing home should be held accountable in his death and fined for their actions. In addition to the fines, the nursing home has gone down on the legal rating scale for nursing homes. The home is now a one out of five stars on the rating scale and probably at risk of a wrongful death claim against them by the family of the patient who choked to death.

Elder care is a growing demand in our society, and with that demand there is an increase in the potential abuse of the elderly who need the care. When a family places their loved one in a nursing home they are hoping and expecting that the nursing home facilities will have their loved one's best interests at heart and take all precautionary measures to preserve the patients life.  In the case of this wrongful death, the 54-year old man choked to death because someone in the chain of command forgot to cut up his dinner; these nurses were fired but that does not bring the man back from the dead.

Maybe you have the belief that your loved one has been the victim of elder abuse or died a wrongful death in a negligent nursing home in Fresno. If this describes your circumstances, please contact one of our Fresno Nursing Home Negligence Lawyers  today for a confidential, free consultation.

  Fresno Pedestrian Accident
Posted By Kellie Healey

On February 17 at around 8:00 p.m., a pedestrian was killed in a fatal pedestrian accident involving a car.  This Fresno pedestrian accident occurred at the intersection of Howard Ave. and California Ave, east of Kerman.

The pedestrian victim who was killed was wearing dark clothing and was not crossing in a cross-walk.  California Highway Patrol Investigators believe that the pedestrian victim may have been in the middle of the road when he was fatally killed by the car driver.  Initially, the California Highway Patrol believed that it was a hit-and-run accident, but initial reports indicate that the driver had a "good reason" for leaving the fatal pedestrian accident scene.  Additionally, the CHP doesn't believe that either alcohol or excessive speed were factors in this pedestrian fatal accident in Fresno.

If you or a loved one has been seriously injured in a pedestrian accident in Fresno, please contact our Fresno Pedestrian Accident Lawyers for a free confidential initial consultation.  We are here to help.

Three People Killed in Chartered Plane Crash
Posted By Fresno Accident Lawyer

Two passengers and a third victim, believed to be the pilot, died in a plane crash on the western side of Catalina Island in California during the rain storm which was bound for John Wayne Airport in California.

The two passengers were tourists who were relaxing on Catalina Island.  The pilot is believed to be the President of a plane charter flight company.  If the pilot is in fact the person they believe, he did have a private pilot's license and the necessary qualifications to fly using the controls in poor weather conditions.  He was, however, not licensed to fly charter flights, and thus should not have been flying the two innocent victims who were killed as a result of this plane crash.

In the last decade, 20 (twenty) people have died in eight separate plane crashes who either departed from or were planning on flying into Catalina Island, including these three plane crash victims.

If you have been injured in a plane crash or plane collision, or if a loved one was killed in a plane crash as a result of the negligence of a pilot or crew, or as a result of a product defect in or around Fresno, please contact one of our Fresno Personal Injury Lawyers for a free confidential initial consultaiton to discuss this plane crash.

Gas Tanker Truck Crashes and 4,800 Gallons Of Gasoline Catch Fire
Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney

4,800 gallons of gasoline caught on fire after a gas tanker truck was involved in an accident on Highway 41 in Fresno County, California

In the early morning of January 12, 2009, a gas tanker truck traveling southbound on Highway 41 in Fresno, California was involved in an accident resulting in 4,800 gallons of gasoline to catch on fire.  It is believed that a wheel may have not been attached negligently and came off the gas tanker resulting in the truck accident.  There were no reports of severe burns to the driver or to any other motor vehicles or property.

It was reported that the gasoline fire was so intense that the smoke from this fire could be seen from miles away.  The Fresno Fire Department reported that for these types of fires it is best to let them burn themselves out while containing the burn area.

Additionally, the driver of the tanker truck involved in the accident did not have any injuries as a result of the crash or the fire.  After the environmental agencies completed their cleanup, Highway 41 was once again reopened.
