| Multi-Motor-Vehicle Accident Requires 63 Firefighters |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
Multiple cars, an SUV and a sedan were involved in a car accident early on the morning of February 2, 2009. Both cars had entrapments, and 1 person was ejected from one of the vehicles. An investigation is still pending as to whether the ejected occupant wasn't wearing a seat belt, or whether the safety equipment in the motor-vehicle failed to function as a result of a product defect.
Both the SUV and the sedan required the extraction of one occupant due to the damage done to both of the vehicles. Paramedic emergency response ambulances and fire companies were both called and summoned to this multi-motor-vehicle accident. All of the car accident victims were triaged upon the arrival of the paramedics.
A total of 63 firefighters were required for this multi-vehicle accident in which there were seven (7) patients, four (4) males and three (3) females. Of these seven patients, four (4) of them were listed in critical to very critical condition. While there is no general indication of the injuries suffered, the critical to very critical occupants most likely suffer some form of brain trauma or brain injuries, severe bleeding, broken bones, and may or may not have lost consciousness. The remaining occupants who were injured suffered moderal injuries and minor injuries. The driver of the sedan, 30, was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Survivors of the multi-car accident has been attributed to the use of safety equipment such as seat belts and air bag deployment.

| How a Child-Seat Can Prevent / Reduce Injuries in Auto Accident |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
The National Highway Trafic Safety Administration has estimated that over 7,500 lives have been saved through the use of child restrains and child-seats over the last 20 years.
California law reqiures children under 6 and / or weigh less 60 pounds (lbs.) are required to ride in a child-seat or in a child booster-seat. While California has this requirement, some parents may not know the proper way to safely secure their child in the unlikely event they are involved in a car accident with either a motorcycle, truck, big-rig, or tractor-trailer semi-truck.
The California Highway Patrol has elected to hold a workshop to teach parents how to properly secure their child in a car-seat or booster-seat. This workshop is aimed at parents and care-givers who may be transporting children in car-seats or booster-seats. One of the major goals of this workshop program is to educate parents and care-givers about the necessity of car-seats and how car-seats can reduce the severe injuries which could ultimately be sustained by young children who are invovled in an auto accident.
The California Highway Patrol is also hoping to be able to examine currently owned car-seats to make sure that they are properly secured and they do not contain any product defects. While this workshop program is not an intensive program, parents and care-givers must also take the responsiblity to routinely examine their child's car-seats to make sure that they are always securly fastened and all of the restraints are working properly. Waiting until an auto accident occurs is the last time you want to check to make sure that this safetly equipment is working properly.
If a child or young adult has been injured in an auto accident in Fresno or where the car-seat failed to work properly because of a product defect in Fresno, please contact one of our Fresno Auto Accident Attorneys or one of our Fresno Product Defect Attorneys for a free confidential initial consultation to discuss the circumstances of your case immediately. |

| Pedestrian Accident Victim Struck By Car Hospitalized in Fresno |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
On January 29, 2009, Salvador Montoya, 29, of Porterville, California was found unconscious in the roadway by a Fresno Police Officer.
Apparently, last wednesday night, Mr. Montoya was crossing the street in Fresno, California when he was struck by a car. It is presently unclear whethre the driver of the car or the pedestrian may have been contributorily negligent in causing the accident. The car accident in Fresno county occurred at Morton Avenue west of Belmont Street in Porterville, California. The pedestrian was not crossing in a cross-walk at the time he was hit. The car driver stayed at the scene of the pedestrian-car accident, so this was not a hit-and-run accident.
As a result of the car striking this pedestrian, resulting in a car-pedestrian accident, an ambulance transported Mr. Montoya to an emergency helicoptor heli-pad where the injured pedestrian was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno, California. As a result of this car-pedestrian accident, the pedestrian was rated to be in serious condition upon arrival at the hospital. These serious injuries included severe leg injuries and head injuries, such as brain trauma and brain and spinal cord injuries - as well as blunt force trauma.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a pedestrian accident in which the injured party was struck by a bicycle, car, motorcycle, truck, big rig, or any other motor vehicle in Fresno, contact one of our experienced Fresno Pedestrian Accident Attorneys immediately for a free consultation. |

| Multi-Vehicle Accident near Conejo in Fresno County |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
Last wednesday, thick fog (where at sometimes there was only a visible distance of about 50 feet) was a determining factor in several multi-vehicle accidents including all types of motor vehicles, incluidng: cars, trucks, motorcycles and SUVs. The number and severity of the injuries ranged from severe bleeding, brain injuries, and broken bones to minor scratches. A police officer at one of the car accient scenes stated that there were so many injuries that all ambulances were being used - so the emergency medical personnel were being stretched to their ultimate limits.
These multi-vehicle pileups occurred at various locations Highway 43 at Kansas in the South Valley while various other multi-vehicle crashes resulted on Highway 198. There was also major injuries on Highway 41 near Conejo in Fresno County.
With respect to the accident on Highway 43, it occurred just after 8:00 AM. Two cars collided which resulted in backing up traffic and creating further delays. This crash directly resulted in creating a four vehicle (car, motorcycle, SUV, big rig, etc.) accident.
Less than an hour after these motor vehicle accidents on Highway 43, six (6) separate accidents resulted on Highway 198 at Second Street, east of Hanford. In these separate accidents, there were a total of 15 (fifteen) vehicles, including two (2) big rigs which caused the higway to be closed. Amongst these various accidents, only two people had serious enough injuries (and did not waive their right) to be taken to the hospital.
Approximately an hour after this second send of crashes occurred, on Highway 41 near Conejo in Fresno County, two cars collided. This car accident resulted in traffic backing up on this Fresno county highway which led to twelve (12) other vehicles either crashing, colliding or getting into an accident. This Fresno County highway shut down for a little over two hours as the injured were cared for and the higway was cleared up debris and the cars involved in the accidents were removed and towed away.
If you or a loved one was injured in this or another multi-vehicle accident with a big rig, truck, car, automobile or motorcycle, please contact one of our Fresno Auto Accident Attorneys, Fresno Truck Accident Attorneys and / or Fresno Motorcycle Accident Attorneys. |

| Fresno Teens May Not Drive Other Teens |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
A California law passed in 2006 prohibits newly licensed California teens from driving other minors (other than family members) without a supervising licensed driver who is at least 25 years old also in the vehicle.
Fresno police acknoweldge that a law such as this is very difficult to enforce. The teens who are violating this California statute believe that the law is impractical with their various of after-school activities, as well as driving themselves to and from school every day. The parents of the teens who are wilfully violating this California often are aware of this law, but would much rather no longer be their teenagers taxi or personal driver.
A recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that of the various teens interviewed, approximately half of the teens admitted violating this 2006 California Law. California also has laws in place in which California teens may not drive between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m.
Despite teens and parents not agreeing with this law, reports have come out that show that these laws have in fact saved lives. Unfortunately, there are still tragic incidents in which teen drivers fail to obey these rules and ultimately kill their fellow teen passengers. Parents need to take a stronger stance and enforce these rules which are in place to save their children, as well as the children of others.
If you or a loved one has been injured by a teen failing to obey this law or any other law which ultimately resulted in a car accident in Fresno, please contact our Fresno Car Accident Attorneys immediately for a free evaluation of your case. |

| Off-Duty Fresno Sheriff Arrested for DUI |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
This past weekend, after having a few alcoholic beverages, a gentleman decided to get behind the wheel of his car in Fresno, California. This gentleman, unlike many other people couldn't claim that he didn't know the rules about drinking and driving, let alone the necessary amount one must consume to be arrested for a DUI. Such a defense was not possible, as the person who was pulled over for drining was an off-duty Fresno Sheriff.
Specifically, the 27-year old Fresno Sheriff crashed his Porche into the rear of a pickup truck. This automobile accident occurred near Herndon and Maple Avenues shortly after midnight on January 17, 2009.
As a result of this auto accident, there were no major or severe injuries suffered. Witnesses at the scene of the car accident stated that the Fresno Sheriff fled the scene. Shortly after this Fresno hit-and-run car accident, Fresno police located the Sheriff and administed a sobriety test. The Fresno Sheriff failed this sobriety test, and was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving and hit and run charges.
If you or a loved one was injured in a car accident, where the other negligent party was drinking and may be legally drunk, then please call our Fresno Car Accident Attorneys immediately so we may begin seeking compensation for your personal injuries and injuries to your vehicle. |

| A 16 year-old arrested after causing a car accident with a police car in Central Fresno, California |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
On January 19, 2009, a sixteen year old driver was heading north on Palm Avenue in Central Fresno, California. The teenage driver then made an illegal turn causing the police car to strike the teenage driver's car which created a car accident.
The teenage driver's car was struck with such force by the Fresno Police car that he ended up on a nearby homeowner's lawn. The Fresno police car similarly left Palm Avenue in Fresno, California and came to rest after striking the fence surrounding the Fresno High School.
Neither the teenage driver nor the Fresno police officer suffered serious injuries as a result of the car accident. However, the suspect left his vehicle and attempted to flee on foot as he didn't have a driver's license. The teenager was caught shortly thereafter and arrested for hit and run. He may also be charged with damaging state property as well as driving without a license.
Although neither the driver nor the police officer was seriously injured, if you were involved in a similar car accident, you should still retain a knowledgable and experienced Fresno personal injury attorney to make sure you have proper representation.

| The most fatalities in California in 2007 resulted with passenger cars |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
In California in 2007, 41% of the fatalities involved drivers of passenger cars resulting in 1,618 fatalities. The next category of vehicles which had the most fatalities were SUV or light utility trucks. In California in 2007, there were 419 fatalities (11%) of the total fatalities for the year. With the popularity and fuel efficiency of cars as the most affordable, along with the popularity of SUVs, it is easy to see why these two categories of vehicles were involved in the majority of car accidents - as there are more of them on the road than any other type of vehicle.
Further, some drivers were under the impression that they didn't need to wear seat belts while driving SUVs as they were "safer" in an SUV than in a smaller car. These statistics clearly indicate that SUVs did get into a substantial amount of car accidents in California. One potential reason for these numbers could be that the drivers of SUVs may have been driving negligently or without seat belts which could have resulted in more serious injuries, including fatal brain damage or brain injury.

| Fresno Motor Vehicle Accidents have been Decreasing |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
Arrests have been steadily increasing in Fresno, California for impaired drivers which has been reducing the number of car accidents and fatalities.
According to the NHTSA, the Fresno Police Department Traffic Unit with 22 officers had 1984 arrests in 2001. By the end of 2002, the number of DUI arrests was increased to 2067. After 20 officers were added to the force, increasing the traffic unit to 42, the number of DUI arrests increased to 2186. This number increased dramatically in 2004 to 2525 DUI arrests.
In 2004, the Fresno Police arrested 4,518 people for driving with a suspended or revoked driver's license. 11,706 unlicensed drivers were also cited and fined while in Fresno county. And a total of 22,738 vehicles were impounded for traffic and criminal offenses. Along with increasing revenue for Fresno, seat belt usage was increased from 82% in 2002 to 93% in 2004.
Traffic fatalities were also down 42.3% in 2004 from 2002 which represents twenty-two familes, friends and loved ones who didn't have to buy a loved one because the negligent or impaired drivers were off the road. Just in 2004, the Fresno Neighborhood Traffic Unit (NTU) issued 21,368 citations, impounded 5,968 vehicles, arrested 723 drivers for DUI, confiscated 16 guns, arrested 361 individuals on felony charges and 5,177 individuals for misdeameanors.
Despite these improvements, car accidents still occur. If you were involved in a car or truck accident, merely exchange information with the other drivers at the scene of the incident and never acknowledge fault for the accident. Never say such things as, "I was going to fast, and I didn't see you" or "I'm sorry for hitting you with my car." It is important to consult with one of our Fresno car accident attorneys as you may not have all of the information - and the other driver may have been more at fault. An attorney who specializes in car accidents should therefore be contacted immediately, especially before you speak with your insurance company or the insurance companies of the other drivers.
Therefore, if you have been injured in a car accident in Fresno or any motor vehicle accident in Fresno, you can further research your rights by visiting our Fresno personal injury website. |

| Approximately 11 Fatal Auto Accidents Occur in California EVERY DAY! |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
California, for the first time in 5 years, had traffic fatalities near the 4,000 range.
In 2007, California had a total of 3,974 traffic fatalities. Of these car, truck and motorcycle accidents, 1,493 of the fatalities occurred in rural areas where 2,481 occurred in urban areas.
However, these numbers indicate that there are approximately 11 auto accidents that occur in California every day! On a national average, 11 accidents isn't too high considering California's population, but it should be considered high with the large number of rural square acreage. California with a population of 36,553,215 in 2007 demonstrates that the likelihood of getting into an accident is quite remote.
Most drivers believe that they could never get into an accident, and they could never be one of the 11 people who are killed every day - not including all of those individuals who are severely injured every year in California. There are many factors out of your control that may cause one to get into an accident. Your local mechanic may have performed negligent work on your car or on a truck which impacts your vehicle causing severe injury in a multi-car pile-up on the I-5 freeway.
Therefore, despite all of the precautions that one takes, there are still always things out of our control. If an auto accident does occur in California, a personal injury attorney who specializes in automobile accidents in California should be hired to represent you to guarantee that your interests are protected. If you know of someone who has been involved in either a truck, car, motorcycle or bicycle accident in Fresno, California - it is highly recommend that they contact one of our Fresno auto accident lawyers. Additionally, if brain damage or brain injury occurred, it is even more imperative that an attorney be hired as there are many hardships which could potentially result if proper medical care is not provided shortly after the accident.

| Traffic Accidents in Fresno More Likely to be Caused by Unlicensed Drivers |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
Traffic Accidents in Fresno, California are more likely to be caused by unlicensed drivers or who have had their licenses suspended ore revoked
The California DMV has estimated that there are more than 700,000 suspended or revoked licenses and more than 1 million unlicensed drivers on California's roads. The AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety further determined that these drivers can be up to 6 times more likely to cause a motor vehicle accident resulting in a fatal collision.
Specifically in Fresno, California at least 20% of the drivers are doing so on suspended licenses or never followed the statutory requirements to receive a driver's license. Additionally, unlicensed or dirvers with suspended licenses were involved in 1 out of every 3 fatal motor vehicle collisions in Fresno, California. Further, 100% of these drivers were determined to be at fault - meaning that innocent individuals were both harmed and killed by these unlicensed, suspended or revoked drivers. The NHTSA federal governmental agency along with the Fresno Police Department determined that removing these drivers from the road is of the highest priority.
To combat this, the Fresno police department has increased its citations by 227% from 2002 to 2004. In 2004, the Fresno Police Department had 85,937 hazardous citations and subsequently was able to remove these drivers from the road. With these individuals no longer driving, innocent individuals were therefore not put in harms way and were able to return safety to their families and loved ones.
If you or a family member has been injured by a driver who was at fault in causing your injuries, you should contact one of our Fresno motor vehicle accident injury attorneys so you may recover any lost wages or costs associated with any medical bills that may have resulted. |

| Fatality Rate in Fresno, California is Three Times Greater Than in Other Areas of California |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
The fatality rate for someone involved in a car crash in Fresno, located in California's Central Valley, is three times greater than any other area in California.
The nine counties comprising the Central Valley (Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Tulare, Stanislaus, San Joaquin, Merced and Yolo) had almost 35,000 people injured or killed as a report stated in 1994 with the number of motor vehicle fatalities and collisions increasing annually. As this area has migrant farm workers, the Fresno Police Department have indicated that these workers neither understand English nor California traffic laws. Additionally, many of these migrant workers didn't have driver's licenses nor auto insurance in the event that they were involved in a traffic accident.
In an effort to combat the ever increasing number of collisions, injuries, accidents and fatalities, the University of California at Davis developed a bilingual driver safety program. This program was developed into two mass media campaigns. The topics covered were impaired driving, seat belts, child safety restraints (car seats), negligent and reckless driving as well as drunk driving.
Over 450 people actively participated in these programs, but upwards of 50,000 additional people were reached through radio, television and newspaper advertisements. While there is no statistical indication that these programs have helped, this was an excellent pro-active role done by the Fresno, California government and the University of California at Davis.
If, however, you or a loved one has been injured in a motor vehicle accident, you should immediately call or e-mail one of our Fresno personal injury lawyers who would assist you in getting medical treatment as well as money for your injuries including pain and suffering.

| Two Teens Killed in Auto Accident Near Highway 99 |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
A recent study reported by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found that, in the United States, reckless driving is one of the leading causes of death amongst teenagers between 16-19 years of age. On Tuesday, March 10, 2009 a fatal car accident left two local high school students dead, and one critically injured in Chowchilla, CA near highway 99. The accident involved a pick-up truck with three teenage passengers which collided with a Pacific Gas & Electric utility truck with only one passenger.
Although the cause of the crash has not been determined, it is likely that there was negligence on the part of one of the drivers, who may have ran a stop sign at the intersection of Avenue 23 ½ and Road 9. At any rate, the utility truck was carrying flammable materials which resulted in the pick-up truck's bursting into flames. It has not been reported to have been alcohol or drug related, but a possible charge of Vehicular Manslaughter could be filed.
Both the driver, and one of the passengers were killed in the fire, the driver of the PG & E truck suffered only minor injuries and the third passenger was air lifted to a local Medical Center in Fresno. It was reported that the surviving passenger had 4th degree burns covering 50- 60% of his body.
Injuries caused by auto accidents, especially burn injuries from collisions causing truck fires, explosions, and engine fires require immediate, long lasting and state of the art medical attention. This kind of medical attention may not be covered by insurance companies and costs the families and the injured a lot of money. The last thing a family or injured person wants to think about is whether or not they can afford the care needed to help them in their time of crisis.
If ever this were to happen to you, it is in your best interest to be informed about your rights in this situation. If you, your child, or anyone that you know have been involved in or died as the result of an automobile accident caused by reckless driving in Fresno, please contact one of our Fresno Auto Accident Attorneys for a free consultation so that you may be informed. |

Upon the freigh train hitting the passenger automobile, the car caught on fire, where the car subsequently hit the railroad crossing arm which subsequently created a traffic backup.
Investigators at the scene of the train accident were attempting to determine whether any train safety equipment malfunctioned which could have resulted in this train / car accident. As yet, neither alcohol nor speeding appear to be factors in this non-fatal accident.

| Fresno Highway 99 Car Accidents |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
Recently, on California Highway 99, due to dense fog, a total of 53 vehicles were involved in a multi-motor-vehicle car accident pile-up. Of the fifty-three vehicles involved, fourty-nine of them were cars, and four of them were tractor trailer big rigs.
At the time of these major accidents, the fog limited vision to about 200 feet. For vehicles traveling at 65 mph, they are traveling at about 100 feet/second. Therefore, these vehicles would only have about two seconds to respond to seeing an accident occur in front of them. However, human reaction time is about 3/4 of a second to move your foot from the gas pedal to the break pedal. Therefore, the drivers involved in this major pile up only had about 1.25 seconds to bring their vehicle to complete a stop. For those cars, trucks, and semi tractor trailers that stopped in time, most of them were still rear-ended by the cars and semi tractor trailers behind them that were unable to stop in time.
Highway 99 has many accidents on it every year, especially in times where road conditions warrant drivers to be traveling at speeds slower than the posted speed limit. Be sure to always leave enough room ahead of you, with a minimum of three-seconds (3 secs.), but feel free to travel slower and with your low-beam headlights on when traveling in fog to further assist with your vision, even if the sun is out.
If you or a loved one has been injured in a car, truck, semi, motorcycle, tractor-trailer, 18-wheeler, or motor-vehicle accident on Highway 99 in or around Fresno, please contact one of our Fresno Auto Accident Lawyers, Fresno Trucking Accident Attorneys or Fresno Motorcycle Accident Lawyers for a free confidential initial consultation. |

| Common Car Insurance Mistakes |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
The insurance industry expects that an increasing number of drivers, for various reasons including the economy, will be driving on the road without insurance. In the event you or a loved one is involved in an accident with one of these insured motoritsts, it is essential that you are protected and insured to cover any medical costs as well as damage done to your vehicle. There is an equal balance that must be struck to protect yourselves, without paying necessary fees and expenses to your insurance company.
1. Carry uninsured motorist coverage
If you are involved in an accident with an uninsured motorist, and you didn't have uninsured motorist coverage, you may go after the individual personally to recover, but if they don't carry insurance, then it is likely that they don't have much money or investments to begin with.
If you are involved in an accident with an uninsured motorist, and you have uninsured motorist coverage, your insurance company will pay damages directly resulting from your car accident for you, your passengers, and your car. This insurance further covers hit-and-run accidents as well as if the other party leaves the scene of the accident. Although it is possible for your insurance company to raise your rates as much as 10% for having to pay for your injuries, it is better that you are fully covered rather than having to pay all of these expenses out of pocket.
2. Uninsured Motorist Coverage too High or too Low
Typical uninsured motorist coverage is approximately $100,000 per person/accident and $300,000 for any singular accident. The correct amount of uninsured coverage is subjective, and one should carry enough to recoup for personal injuries as well as lost-wages and car, motorcycle, or truck repair. If your car alone is worth $60,000, then you may wish to increase your uninsured motorist coverage.
3. Insurance Costs When Shopping for a Motorcycle, Car, Automobile, Truck or Big-Rig
Depending on the type of car, motorcycle or truck you purchase, your insurance company will charge you insurance premiums which directly correspond to crash data for this type of vehicle, your demographics, and your previous driving record. They will further consider the safety and reliabilty, likelihood of this model of vehicle being stolen, as well as safety equipment such as anti-lock brakes, air-bags, alarm-systems, etc. All of these may affect insurance premiums which may make a reasonably priced car too expensive when making insurance payments.
4. Insurance Discounts
Many insurance companies offer significant discounts if you insure multiple vehicles, or have multiple insurance policies with them. For example, if you have a motorcycle insurance, car insurance, truck insurance, homeowners insurance, boat insurance, umbrella policy insurance and renters insurance with the same insurance company, they will give you a favorable client discount. Also, depending on your profession, some insurance companies will offer further discounts, so be sure to inquire if they offer profession insurance discounts.
5. Paying a Low Deductible vs. Lower Monthly Insurance Payments
By increasing your deductible from $500 to $1,000, you may decrease your monthly insurance policy premiums. However, if you would be unable to make an out-of-pocket payment of $1,000 in the event you are involved in an accident, then it may be better to pay slightly higher monthly payments to make sure you can pay the $500 deductible and have all of your expenses covered.
6. Review and Update Your Insurance Policies
As your vehicle depreciates in value, you may begin to lower your collision coverage. Your initial insurance payments were on the full market value of the vehicle you were driving, and the insurance company is not going to inform you that your vehicle is now worth less, as they always want to recover the maximum from you. Therefore, it is essential to continually examine your insurance policy, as well as informing them of anything that make reduce payments (see insurance discounts, above).
If you or a loved one has been injured in an accident with or without an uninsured motorist in Fresno, please contact one of our skilled and knowledgable Fresno Personal Injury Lawyers for a free confidential initial consultation. |

The identified victim was Aldo Christian Hernandez-Torres who was only eighteen (18) years-old. The fatal car accident investigation has indicated that his car crossed over the center line from his southbound lane on Highway 59 and caused a collision with an oncoming car. This car accident occurred when both drivers were on their way to work just before 6:00 a.m.
The other driver, Jose R. A. Garcia, 25, was seriously injured at the scene of the car accident. He was then transported to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto, California. As of January 29, 2009, Mr. Garcia was reported to be in critical condition.
The initial reports indicate that alcohol was not a factor in the accident, but the fatal car accident is still under investigation.
While it is still unclear as to all of the factors that created this fatal car accident, some possible factors may have been a product defect which caused Mr. Hernandez-Torres's car to cross over into oncoming traffic, a pharmacy error, or possibly a medication error. Irrespective of what caused the fatal two-car accident, Mr. Garcia and his family must seek compensation for his injuries, including medical costs, physical therapy, lost-wages, and pain-and-suffering. In Northern California, including Fresno County, free rides are being offered to those individuals who were drinking during the 2009 Steelers vs. Cardinals Super Bowl 2009.
During the 2008 Super Bowl, the California Highway Patrol reported that in California alone, twelve (12) people were killed in alcohol related motor vehicle accidents. This number of fatalities is three times above California's State average. In addition to these twelve motor vehicle fatalities, there were also one-hundred sixy-seven alcohol related motor vehicle accidents. |
On January 16, 2009, a seventy-nine year-old-man was struck by a car. Apparently, while attempting to cross the street around 2800 David Avenue in Fresno, California, the man was struck by a car and involved in an auto accident near the Country Club Gate Shopping Center.
There is little to no information as to how quickly the driver was traveling or the lighting conditions that may have contributed to the car accident. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, so this was not a hit-and-run accident. The driver also fully cooperated with the police as the driver remained at the scene of this Fresno car accident.
The 79 year old man was quickly attended to by a fire and ambulance crew shortly after the car accident. The 79 year old pedestrian who was struck by the car was conscious and breathing and only suffered head injuries with possible brain injury and brain damage.
This gentleman should contact an auto accident attorney immediately to seek recovery for his damages and medical expenses which resulted, or will result, directly from the negligence of the driver in the car accident.

| Car Accident in Central Fresno, California leaves two dead |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
Around 3:35 a.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2009, the driver of a gold colored four-door Acura sedan traveling westbound on Shields Avenue (west of First Street) in Fresno, California lost control of his car. After the driver lost control of his Acura, a car accident resulted when the car struck and proceeded to roll for an eighth-mile stopping just East of Callisch Street.
Immediately after the crash, neighbors near this Central Fresno car accident attempted to rescue the now deceased, but the heat from the flames prevented them from rescuing the car's occupants. Upon the arrival of the emergency personnel, including the Fresno Police Department's Traffic Unit, the car had already burst into flames. The vehicle fire severely burned both the driver and a passenger. Ultimately, the Fresno Fire Department extracted the deceased driver and his passenger after using Jaws of Life to cut open the burned car.
As a result of the severe burns to both occupants, their identities are not yet able to be determined. Additionally, a wallet, and corresponding driver's license was found on one of the deceased, but the Fresno Coroner's Office has yet to determine and announce the victim's identities which could take weeks.
The family members of the deceased should hire a Fresno auto accident attorney as soon as possible to facilitate the resolution of any claims which may result with their insurance company or with the manufacturer of the car for any negligent work performed or any previously known or unknown product defects. The longer one delays in contacting a Fresno car accident attorney, the more difficult it may become to locate witnesses and piece together the events of the car accident. |

| How important are seat belts for passenger vehicle occupants aged 5 and above |
| Posted By Fresno Car Accident Attorney |
 |
From 2003 to 2007, there have been about 1,500 fatalities each year for car or truck occupants who are aged 5 and above who were using seat belts to be restrained. The number of fatalities for this same demographic has been reducing from over 1,000 down to 845 annually. Comparing any given year, only about 60% of the children were known to be using a seat belt.
Using these statistics, the NHTSA has determined that of the numbers above, if 100% of the children were wearing their seat belt, approximately 300 more children annually would still be alive. With this research, make sure that you follow California's Click-It or Ticket campaign, and buckle up your seat belt and your child's seat belt. Seat belts are installed in all cars to save your life, and this research shows that over 300 children could be out in the playground with their friends and family.
Help save a life in case you or a loved one is involved in an accident, make sure that everyone is wearing their seat belt! If you are wearing your seat belt, and you or a loved one was involved in a fender-bender or a fatal collision, you should immediately contact a professional and knoweldgable attorney who is experienced in handling auto accident cases. | Fresno Combats Drunk and Impaired Drivers to Reduce Fatalities |
| Posted By Fresno Car Accident Lawyer |
 |
The Fresno Police Department started a program to combat drunk and impaired drivers to reduce the number of fatalities resulting from car accidents involving these impaired drivers.
Fresno, California has an area of 101 square miles which is located in California's San Joaquin Valley. With a population quickly approaching a half-million people, Fresno is the fifth largest city in California. Starting in 2002, the Chief of the Fresno Police Department was alarmed with a sudden spike in fatal motor vehicle crashes jumped from a five-year average of 33 to 52. Of those 52, there were also six alcohol related fatal crashes, more than double the prior five-year average.
Since the early 1970s, Fresno, California received no revenue from traffic citations. Instead, most of the revenue from citation fines went to the State of California, with very little partioned off to the various counties. In 2003, this agreement was modified wherein the County of Fresno continued to receive its revenue stream, but money in excess of this amount written by the Fresno Police Department would be paid to the City of Fresno for increased traffic enforcement operations. After increasing Fresno's police force traffic unit from 24 to 44 resulted in more than 62,000 citations, more than two times those issued in the previous year.
With these efforts of the Fresno Police Department, as well as DUI checkpoints and enforcement of seat belt laws, total reported crashes in Fresno, California from 2002 to 2003 reduced by 10.5% from 4,420 to 3,955 according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Total injury and fatal crashes also decreased from 1,772 to 1,640, a reduction of 7.4%. Fatal crashes, also decreased from 52 to 46, a substantial decrease showing that the Fresno police's efforts were successful by 11.5%. As for alcohol-related injuries and fatal crashes, they were also reduced 17.4% and 50%, respectively.
Despite these programs, car accidents, motorcycle accidents and fatal crashes continue to occur in Fresno, California. If you, or a loved one, has been injured in a truck accident, a car accident, or a bicycle accident - it is imperative that you get medical treatment and hire a local Fresno accident attorney to immediately begin working for you.

| Reducing the Number of Fresno Car Accidents |
| Posted By Fresno Car Accident Attorney |
 |
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at one time determined that Fresno, California ranked eighth statewide annually for motor vehicle accidents and collisions. Specially, by years-end of 1999, 3,445 injuries and 50 fatalities occurred in Fresno City, CA. Car and motorcycle crashes are responded to by the Fresno City Fire Department within Fresno city-limits who employ firefighters and certified emergency medical technicians.
As is a common problem, training and equipment are at the mercy of a city and state's budget. Specifically, the emergency personnel in Fresno, CA did not have the appropriate extraction equipment needed to remove individuals involved in bicycle accidents, truck accidents, car accidents, or motorcycle accidents which occurred within the city-limits of Fresno, California. The budget constraints further prevented the Fresno City from disseminating a safety awareness education program, specifically in the use of seat belts, baby car seats, and bicycle helmets to further educate individuals and directly result in the protection and reduction of injuries to children from traffic accidents.
Upon receiving a grant, the City of Fresno immediately created a Vehicle Extrication Program as well as further expanding the existing Fresno public education and awareness program to directly combat its concerns of unnecessary injuries to children involved in both motor vehicle accidents and bicycle crashes. To further educate the citizens of Fresno, the Fresno Fire Department participated in over 50 safety events in 2000 where over 7,000 children, parents and teachers were further educated. The Fresno Fire Department further donated over 250 bicycle helmets to children to immediately begin protecting the children of Fresno, CA.
It is essential that your city follow the affirmative steps of Fresno, California to ensure that your residents are kept safe and are assisted with the newest and best technology in the unlikely event that you are involved in a car accident.
Despite these vast improvements to assist individuals who are involved in car accidents or other motor vehicle accidents within Fresno, California - these accidents continue to occur. A professional and knowledgable Fresno motor vehicle accident lawyer should be hired if you were involved in any vehicle collision, especially if serious injuries, high medical costs, brain injuries or brain trauma resulted as a result of the negligence of another driver. |

In Fresno, California a man was fatally shot just before 2:00 a.m. on January 29, 2009 near the streets of Chestnut and Clinton.
Apparently, the male suspect who was fatally shot in Fresno was attempting to force an ex-girlfriend off the road. The female car occupant dialed 911 while driving home from work, and trying to evade her ex-boyfriend.
California Highway Patrol officers heard the woman's call broadcast over their radio, and further observed both of the vehicles traveling northbound on Chestnut street. The CHP attempted to stop the male suspect, who ultimately pulled over to the side of the road. The male suspect then exited his vehicle and began charging at the two CHP officers. The male suspect was failing to obey the commands and instructions of the CHP officers and was yelling at the officers, which the CHP officers reportedly caused them to believe the male suspect may have been armed with a weapon and was preparing to attack them.
Ultimately, the male suspect was shot by the CHP in the upper body. An investigation evidenced that the male suspect was never armed with a weapon. Further, the male suspect was transported to Community Regional Medical Center where he ultimately died from his fatal gun shot wounds. | Super Bowl DUI Arrests in Fresno |
| Posted By Fresno Accident Attorney |
 |
On February 1, 2009, the Parlier Police Department set up D.U.I. checkpoints on Super Bowl Sunday.
All of the checkpoint locations were advertised in the local Fresno paper, but the officers still made five (5) DUI arrests, most of the drivers were well above the legal limit. Last year, there were only three (3) D.U.I. arrests.
Each of this years DUI arrests had a Blood-Alcohol-Content (B.A.C. or BAC) or .11 or higher. To be legally drunk in Fresno, California - a driver need only have a .08 BAC. The highest BAC that the Fresno police tested was a .21, which indicates that this driver was having a lot of hard alcohol and was having much of it.
Despite these five (5) arrests in Fresno, there were still many auto and motor-vehicle accidents in and around Fresno as a direct result of other drivers who were not stopped and arrested at these DUI checkpoints.
If you or a loved one was involved in a Fresno Auto Accident as a result of the negligent drinking of another driver, please contact one of our experienced Fresno Auto Accident Lawyers who can assist you in receiving compensation for your injuries. |
